Right to Buy MortgagesA council Right to Buy purchase is an excellent way to get on the property ladder without having the hassle of saving for a deposit. The Right to Buy scheme allows council tenants to buy their homes at a discounted price, provided that they meet minimal qualification criteria. To qualify for the Right to Buy you need to have been a public sector tenant for a minimum of two years, whereupon you can normally purchase it at a discount, the size of which depends on the length of your tenancy. If you need advice on any aspect of the Right to buy scheme, first contact your landlord (the organisation you pay rent to or have a tenancy agreement with - for example, your council or housing association) and thn come back here to make your mortgage enquiry.
