Labour Puts Housing at the Top of its Agenda

One of the first things that Gordon brown did following his confirmation as leader of the labour party was a pledge to make housing one of his priorities and promised a property owning democracy that would be open to everyone.

The pledge came as he addressed his party members shortly after he officially took over the role. Brown also suggested he was looking to bring together the housing associations, the private sector and the local authorities to provide properties for both rent and ownership.

There is rising speculation that the ex chancellor will have to consider the future of the Home Information Packs (HIPs) which have had there status dramatically diluted and the implementation date put back are now facing speculation as to whether they will be implemented at all. Could this be the first U-turn for Mr Brown???
